Here is the view South from Paulina Peak . Fort Rock, which is a Oregon State Park is in the distance, but hard to see.
No CommentsFrom Paulina Peak you great a great view of the surrounding country side. You can see everything from Mt Hood to Mt Shasta if the sky is clear enough. The day we went hiking, the clouds came in which obscured our views.
No CommentsYou can either walk to the top of Paulina Peak or drive up along a gravel road. If you decide to walk it, here is one of the view you will see. The trail follows along this ridge until it reacts the peak which is past the highest rocks in this picture.
No CommentsThere is very little life along the Big Obsidian Flow trail, so it was interesting to see this tree growing out of the rock.

No CommentsDuring July, we went with some friends to Newberry National Volcanic Monument near Bend Oregon. We stayed near Paulina lake at the Paulina Lake campground, which is in the Newberry Caldera. This is the view from the boat ramp at the campground of Paulina Lake.
