I got this view along the Timberline Trail after getting to the bottom of the canyon, crossing the Zigzag river and starting back up the other side. The river was fairly easy to cross unlike how it would have been a few months ago.
No CommentsAfter the viewpoint, the Timberline Trail heads down into the Canyon. I got this picture of the trail as it goes through the forest on the sides of the canyon.
No CommentsI found some interesting fall color along the Timberline Trail just after the Zigzag Canyon viewpoint.
No CommentsMy second hike on Mt Hood was along the Timberline trail. I started at the Timberline Lodge and headed West to Zigzag Canyon. The trail was half covered with a foot of snow which made for some slow going in spots. I have to remember to bring my micro spikes next time. Here is a view of Zigzag Canyon from the Zigzag Canyon viewpoint. This is a four photo panorama.
No CommentsOne more of pictures of the color along the East Fork Trail. I thought this was a very colorful leaf sitting along the trail.
No CommentsBefore heading back to the trailhead, I headed south along the East Fork Trail and found a bunch of color along the trail. Here is one of those pictures I got of the fall color.
No CommentsAfter a 1.5 mile hike, I reached Tamanawas Falls. Tamanawas Falls is on the East side of Mt Hood with the trailhead located on Hwy 35.
No CommentsFor a little different pace, I found this colorful leaf along the trail to Tamanawas Falls.
No CommentsMy third waterfall shot along Cold Spring Creek before the big Tamanawas Falls. This is also another panoramic shot.
No CommentsHere is another waterfall along the Cold Spring Creek. This picture was shot by stitching four shots together into a panorama.
No CommentsFor the first hike of my day trip to Mt Hood, I went up to Tamanawas Falls. I took this picture on the hike up to the falls along Cold Spring Creek.
No CommentsAfter a stop at Trillium Lake, I made a quick stop at the White River sno-park. Here is the view from the sno-park of the White River and Mt Hood.
No CommentsAfter getting back to the school routine, I got out to do another day trip to Mt Hood in October. My First stop was at Trillium Lake for sunrise. This is the first time I had been here without snow on the ground.
No CommentsOn our trip back to the car, we hiked along the Pacific Crest Trail. Here is one of the colorful portions of the trail.
No CommentsHere is one more picture of Mt Adams early in the morning.
No CommentsThe last night of backpacking before heading out, I got this picture of Mt Rainier at sunset.
No CommentsWe stopped our hike at two ponds before returning to our campsite. This is the view from one of those ponds with Mt Adams in the background.
No CommentsWe got this view of Mt Adams as we started down into Avalanche Valley. As you can see there were more trees growing down here in the valley.
No CommentsLittle grew up on the ridge we hiked to before heading down into Avalanche Valley. This side looked a lot of Mt St Helens. We will have to explore more of Mt Adams to see what the other side looks like.
No CommentsWe got up to 7200ft before headed down into the Valley and on to the Indian Reservation. This the view of Mt Adams from the highest ridge we hiked too.
